1985年に、あのゲベル問題に大発見で新しい光をあてたこの人。錬金術史研究は大地殻変動期へと突入しました。現在は中世から17世紀までの物質理論を錬金術文献を中心に研究を進めています。近年の錬金術関係のスペシャル・セッションでも大活躍です。E. Murdoch 氏と共同編纂している『後期中世と初期近代における粒子論的物質理論』 (Brill) という論集および Lawrence Principe 氏とのジョイント・プロジェクトである著作『スターキーとボイルの錬金術活動』 の出版も間近なようです。
